Are You Afraid?

We live in perilous times! Worldwide, people are suffering atrocities at the hands of other human beings, suffering loss and pain due to nuclear incidents, earthquake, tsunami, flood, tornado, hurricanes, fires, drought and pestilence. If you are a mainstream citizen of the United States you can suffer vicariously with these people via internet coverage, satelite TV, radio, and written media if you are not personally experiencing these things.. There are also prognosticators all over the world shouting this or that alarm. There are even those who prove their lack of scriptural belief by predicting a day and an hour for the return of Christ. All of these things, along with any personal stressors from family, health , the economy and any sources of anger or grief serve to stir our hearts with fear.

God's word says this: Luke 21:26 (KJV)
Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

The specific context here timewise is clearly for the Nation of Israel who is on the earth during the time of Jacob's trouble. The church (those saved by grace) having already been removed and meeting Jesus in the air.7 years before. If you read the next verse, you will see this:
Luke 21:27 (KJV)
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

The same believers who were removed from the Earth will come back to Earth at this time with the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Church is still on the Earth as I write this, the specific time of Jacob's trouble has not begun. Nevertheless, Jacob (the nation of Israel) is being troubled today. Just as an earthquake begins with tiny tectonic shivers and pops, building to a crecendo of wreckage and ruin, the end time events have some pre- rumblings that are apparent to those who live by God's Holy Spirit in these last days. We know things are getting worse, but  we have read the end of the book. We know we win in the end, but that difficulties and horrors will be visited upon the inhabitants of the Earth between now and the time that The Lord Jesus Christ sets up his Millenial Kingdom. Thus, the tendency either to fear or to mock God.

Let me encourage you to neither fear nor mock. Mocking is for those who are enemies of God.
Jude 1:16-21 (KJV)
16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. 17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; 18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. 19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Fear is pretty much the opposite of faith. According to the Bible, without faith it is impossible to please God. God's word also tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God and also that God has NOT given us a spirit of fear. Over and over, throughout the Bible, God admonishes us to "Fear Not". If we belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, because we have accepted his death as payment for our sin, then we have no reason to fear. The Lord Jesus Christ has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Whatever we live through and whatever we are called to do in these difficult times, God has previewed and selected for our good.
Romans 8:24-28 (KJV)
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

It is scary out there, hang on to God's unchanging hand. You will never regret it. If you have never accepted Christ as your PERSONAL savior or if you are not sure, please go to this link.http://av1611.com/kjbp/salvation.html It outlines with verses from Gods Holy Bible exactly how you can know that you are born again.
