Family Traditions

Here is a list of things my immediate family inherited from my folks.

  1. Keeping little things because they were Aunt So and So's
  2. Watching kittens for entertainment.
  3. Keeping old dogs too long.
  4. Singing aloud (This comes from my mom who sings to newborns from moment one).
  5. Playing scrabble. My kids have added other favorites.
  6. Going straight to the fridge when we enter Mom's or Auntie's house.
  7. Living around the table.
  8. Teasing.
  9. Rejoicing a lot, fairly quietly.
  10. Grieving well and fully and privately.
  11. Loving fiercely.
  12. Trying to say nothing if we can't say something good.
  13. Forgiving quickly.
  14. Being tolerant of mental/spiritual illness in our family.
  15. Calling a spade a spade.
  16. Saying I love you (Thanks S. for getting this started in our family!)
  17. Looking up at the stars any time they are bright and clear and singing "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" at the top of our lungs!
  18. Flexing our biceps and shouting, "Jump up on this and Crow!" (From Dad)
  19. Eating too much good food.
  20. Never rearranging furniture or doing yard work or washing cars.
My family is crazy and I love them very much.

Lawana,
Nice list....
I will have to pay more attention when I am around people...especially your family...some I have noticed...others I haven't. ;~)
I laughed at #20.
I will have to think what I would put on my list.
Thanks,
Mommy 2
P.S. I like lists. 8~)

I second Mommy 2's comment-I like lists (always enjoy yours, Lawana, especially your morning walk noticings) and am going to think about our family traditions-
